       Syrah Grenache

The Occitane vineyards are located at the heart of the Languedoc region and cover 2500 hectares of hills between the Mediterranean sea and the Cevennes mountains. The climate is hot and dry next to the hills but cools down considerably as the vines climb towards the last hills near Sénégra at an altitude of 600 metres.

From the schist foothills of the Espinouse and the Pliocene gravel to the southern Villefranche terraces, the land enables the grapes to reach their full potential to create the finest ‘noble’ varietal wines.

On these rich, diverse vineyards, our vin-growers take great care in cultivating the best parcels of land which are the starting point for our CLAMERY range of wines.

The Occitane vineyards stretch over 2500 hectares of land over five different sites. Our vines are at the heart of the Languedoc region and stretch from the sea to the Cevennes mountains over plains and terraced land.

Three sites are located on the plains and hills next to the sea. The last of these is inland at an average altitude of 300 metres, which allows for an excellent plantation of ‘noble’ white grape varieties.
The soil is made of sloping chalky clay, schist, white stones and Villafranche terraces. This diversity in soil types allows for a large range of grape varieties to be grown. These create high quality wines which have allowed us to produce our Clamery range of superior wines.

The hot dry climate is perfect for the grapes that produce this range. The thirsty vines suck up all the riches from the soils.

 The red grape varieties

SYRAH et GRENACHE NOIR s'implantent parfaitement dans les sols constitués d'anciennes terrasses villafranchiennes plus ou moins argileuses et caillouteuses, assez difficiles à travailler.Syrah and black Grenache are perfectly suited for the soil types found on the Villefranche terraces which are mostly stony and clayey and quite difficult to cultivate.

Cabernet and Merlot are planted on the relatively fertile hill-sides entirely suited to their development giving an optimal maturation of the grape and allowing all their aromas to develop.

Sauvignon and Chardonnay are planted on the lighter clayey calcareous soils which react perfectly to the rains and, at the Bousquet d’Orb, thrive in a climate and altitude which, after the harvest at the end of September, leads to the production of great Chardonnay wines.
