The Occitane vineyards stretch over 2500 hectares of land over
five different sites. Our vines are at the heart of the Languedoc region
and stretch from the sea to the Cevennes mountains over plains and terraced
land.
Three
sites are located on the plains and hills next to the sea. The last
of these is inland at an average altitude of 300 metres, which allows
for an excellent plantation of ‘noble’ white grape varieties.
The soil is made of sloping chalky clay, schist, white stones
and Villafranche terraces. This diversity in soil types allows for a
large range of grape varieties to be grown. These create high quality
wines which have allowed us to produce our Clamery range of superior
wines.
The
hot dry climate is perfect for the grapes that produce this range. The
thirsty vines suck up all the riches from the soils.
